Dr Mike Dewever

He started his studies at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and completed his degree at the University of Barcelona, where he received the extraordinary degree award for his outstanding academic achievements. In the MIR exam, he scored the 75th highest results out of more than 13,000 participants. This achievement allowed him to pursue his residency at the Bellvitge University Hospital. There he specialised in breast, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. At the end of the residency he was hired as an assistant doctor in the plastic surgery service at the same hospital. He completed his training at the Teknon Clinic in Barcelona, and at Columbia University, New York. He is the author and co-author of several national and international publications. He is a member of the Secpre (Spanish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery) and the SCCP (Spanish Society of Plastic Surgery). His expertise is recognised at the European level with the title of Fellow of the European Board of Plastic Surgery (EBOPRAS 2016).

Since 2017 he has worked exclusively in the area of private surgery, with very successful results, his patients’ satisfaction a testament to the excellence of his work.

He has participated in several courses with Dr Alfredo Hoyos, a global leader in body surgery. In the area of breast surgery, he is a pioneer in minimally invasive breast surgery, with rapid recovery and natural results, conducting masterclasses on his minimal scar technique.

He has worked for 4 years in the prestigious Planas Clinic, where he has performed more than 600 surgeries. Altogether, he has carried out more than 3000 surgeries.

Breast Surgery

Breast augmentation:
The goal of breast augmentation surgery, or mammoplasty, is to increase thesize and beautify the shape of the breasts in the most natural way and according to the patient’s anatomy.

It is a safe surgery that is aimed at people who consider themselves to have small breasts relative to their overall body size, people with breasts of different sizes or patients who, after a pregnancy or considerable weight loss, have the appearance of empty breasts.

Breast lift with or without prosthesis:
Mastopexy, also known as breast lift surgery. This is aimed at patients whose nipple is droopy in relation to the inframammary fold. Surgery can be performed to simply reposition the mammary gland for a natural result and a firm breast, without increasing overall size. If the patient also wishes to increase breast size, surgery is accompanied by a breast augmentation and repositioning of the mammary gland, using silicone prostheses or with the patient’s own fat.

Breast reduction:
Reductive surgery is aimed at patients who have too large a chest and because of this suffer from back pain, frequent contractures, discomfort in their daily routines. Because of the weight, very large breasts lose firmness and stiffness, causing them to sag and lose their aesthetics.

A breast reduction makes the breasts firmer and creates attractive cleavage. It also improves the patient’s day-to-day life, reducing back pain and all other health problems caused by excessive breast weight and volume.

Implant replacement:
Breast implants do not have an expiration date, but they must be regularly monitored because they can break, move or break down. In these cases, an implant replacement or possibly a breast augmentation with the patient’s own fat can be carried out.

Corporal Surgery

Abdominoplasty:
Abdominoplasty is a surgery aimed at improving the abdomen, removing excess skin and fatty tissue to achieve a flat stomach, firm and with a defined waist. To correct weakness or separation of the abdominal muscles (diastasis recti) a rectus plication is performed. To improve and define the waist, a flank liposuction is performed. Following these procedures, the patient will once again have a firm, flat stomach and a figure-flattering, defined waist – a guaranteed self-esteem boost.

Liposuction:
Also known as liposculpture or lipoplasty, involves removing excess localized fat from specific areas of the body through suction. This surgery is suggested for patients who wish to reduce the amount of fat they have in a specific area and who cannot get it to go away with exercise or diet. It is important to understand that lipoaspiration is not suggested for weight loss.

In a liposculpture, a lipoaspiration is performed. After this, the fat that is extracted is treated and injected into another area of the body, such as the breasts, buttocks or face.

Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty:
The anatomy of the nose is very complex and varied. For this reason, there is no general rhinoplasty that can be performed since each patient requires their own diagnosis and surgery plan. The most common requests are to correct deviations and size, eliminate bumps or fine-tune the tip of the nose. Ultrasonic rhinoplasty technology allows a much faster recovery that is less painful and which involves less bruising than with a conventional technique.

Blepharoplasty:
Blepharoplasty is a type of surgery aimed at improving the look of the patient, providing a younger and more intense appearance. Upper and lower eyelid surgery can be combined or performed separately, depending on each patient’s needs.

Lifting:
Each face ages differently, so each patient requires a personalised assessment in order to obtain optimal results. The goal is to restore the vitality of a young face and the firmness of the skin.

Otoplasty:
Otoplasty is the name given to surgery that reshapes the ears. Ears are key facial features that give the face harmony: large ears or ears that are very separate or irregular in size create an unbalanced appearance. It is precisely this that this type of surgery corrects.

Genital Surgery

Nymphoplasty:
Nymphoplasty is reduction surgery that corrects hypertrophy of the genital labia minora. It is not only performed for aesthetic purposes: surgery may also be necessary for functional reasons, since hypertrophy can cause discomfort in sexual relations, when dressing, playing sports or simply sitting. For these reasons, this type of surgery is being carried out more and more.
